Welcome

Here is a brief overview of my psychotherapy practice which began in 1985. My office is situated in a uniquely lovely setting in Soquel, California, opening onto the Soquel Creek. There is easy access from the Bay/Porter exit off Highway One.

I provide adult individual and couple psychotherapy. I also work with children, adolescents, parents, step-families and co-parents.

I have taught 'Helping Children Cope with Divorce' at JFK University's Graduate School of Professional Psychology and offered intern training at Family Services and seminars for parents at local schools. My published articles of general interest to parents are archived online at SantaCruzSentinel.com.  My professional articles have been published in the Monterey Bay Psychological Association's Newsletter and are also posted on the website for the Santa Cruz Chapter of the CA Assoc of Marriage and Family Therapists.

I greatly value collaborating with other professionals when consent is available from all family members. I have found that this provides the best possible outcome for families dealing with loss, trauma, divorce or re-marriage. Clinical, medical and often legal professionals involved with a family work together for everyone's benefit. Collaboration widens perspectives, provides balance, and generates new ideas for easing times of crisis.  Providers working in unison are a multi-faceted support for families going through developmental shifts and re-configurations.

Work with adults in depth psychotherapy has also been a fundamental component of  my work. Following my client's lead, I have a deep respect for readiness in confronting difficult issues. With the awareness that all psychological material exists in the present, a clinician skilled in deep listening can profoundly assist us to do our own work, and move towards more meaningful and fulfilling lives.
